mETANOIA gROUPS
Metanoia is a Greek word most often translated as “repent.” Jesus’ gospel message was, “Repent (metanoia) for the kingdom of God is available to you.” Metanoia certainly includes the traditional idea of repentance in that the Holy Spirit will convict us of our sins, that we readily abandon to live differently, but, it also means that we are to have a complete reorientation of thinking and lifestyle as we receive the resources of the kingdom of God and follow Jesus in our missional calling.
Metanoia groups are small gatherings where vulnerability is valued and where confession is made, masks are taken off, prayer for healing takes place, and training to be an apprentice of Jesus is embraced. I rather picture Metanoia groups as both hospitals for the broken and spiritual gyms to grow strong in Christ where we encourage and support each other in the journey. We are presently developing the format for these groups and are excited by what the Lord is doing. We have two men’s Metanoia groups and are experimenting with ways of meeting in our monthly potluck fellowship on Friday night.
